Behind the Scenes

This is the behind the scenes subpage for Zephie.
This subpage contains all behind the scenes material relating to said article.

Background information[]

Zephie is a scissor-lift trolley created by Sarah Ball, Diane Redmond and Rachel Murrell.

Since her introduction in Late Again Eddie, she has gone on to become one of the most prominent recurring characters in the series.

Zephie is likely based on an early San Diego cable car and is painted green with yellow frames.

CGI model[]

In 2007, Zephie was most likely designed and modelled by Volume Studios in the 3D modelling software Sketchup during the production of the first series. The model was later exported to another software, Maya, for animation.[1]

  • Series 1:
    • She increases in size.
    • Her two horns are replaced by a bell.
  • Series 2:
    • She receives the new coupler and chugger plaque design.
  • Series 3:
    • Her irises and chassis become slightly darker.
  • Series 5:
    • Her wipers, hammer handle and smaller chimneys all become dark grey.
