This is the behind the scenes subpage for Irving.
This subpage contains all behind the scenes material relating to said article.

Background information[]

Irving is a fictional diesel locomotive created by Sarah Ball and Jimmy Hibbert.

Being one of the most prominent recurring characters throughout the first few seasons, Irving takes care of the recycling chores around Chuggington.

Irving is based on a Beilhack Rotary Snowblower, and is painted dark red with a white roof and grey underbody.

Irving has not appeared on the show since 2015, but his horn, being a standard sound effect, was used in the promotional video, Rail Safety Tips.

CGI model[]

In 2007, Irving was designed and modelled by Volume Studios in the 3D modelling software Sketchup during the production of the first series. The model was later exported to another software, Maya, for animation.[1] The model last appeared in the fifth series episode, Chug Patrol Chief.
