Background information[]

Piper is a fictional electric steam locomotive created Sarah Ball.

She first appeared in the eleventh episode of the third season, Toot's New Friend.

Piper is based on the North Pacific Coast Railroad Cab-Forward 4-4-0 No. 21 "Thomas-Stetson", a rebuild of NPCRR #5 which had been wrecked in 1897.

She is painted orange and pink with a black cab roof and grey wheels.

CGI model[]

In 2010, Piper was modelled by Ludorum during the production of the third series. The model was modelled in either Sketchup or Maya, two 3D modelling softwares. The final model was animated in Maya.
